Campers will travel to a nearby trailhead in Suffern, NY for this exciting opportunity to climb a section of Wrightman’s Plateau – getting to put the climbing skills they’ve practiced back at camp to work on a real gneiss rock face (pun intended). Thanks to local grassroots activism by the Torne Valley Climbers Coalition, this climbing location was recently opened to the public, and is the only place within Harriman where climbing is allowed. We will get harnessed in, don our helmets, and participate in technical climbing on a challenge-by-choice basis! See “What to Bring” on the left. We will email parents in advance of the hike if there are any changes to this list.
