Some Call it Home

a pile of orange leaves

Find a piece of wood, a brick, a lid or a cover from a pot, something not too large that will lie flat and not blow away. Set this ‘roof’ down on the ground. If you have a few ‘roofs’, put them in different places. Just leave them there. Go back in a day or two and gently life up. Who or what has moved in, under your roof? How come, and how did they find their way in, anyway? The rent is reasonable, I suppose, but why else? If you’re going to take back your shelter (maybe you need the pot lid to make soup), kindly, gently, relocate the inhabitants to another domicile…under a rock, for instance.
