Farming

The Duryea Farm of the Fellowship Community is at the far end of our 200 acres. It is a real, working farm and when campers visit they get involved in the already on-going work and rhythms of farm life.

They may feed and water the cows and sheep, make yarn from the wool, and maybe help milk a cow if the timing is right. Campers can help turn the compost piles, plant a cover crop, dig potatoes from the ground, climb up to the hayloft for a story, make cheese and early apple cider. They explore inside the modern solar-powered barn, try out old farm tools, ‘rock’ the fields (we are in Rockland County!), visit the 150-year old barn to learn about the original Duryea family, visit the honeybee hives and perhaps, if we are lucky, watch a calf or lamb being born!
