Every Friday Chuck Stead comes to camp, and with his unique style of storytelling holds the whole audience, of all ages, in rapt attention. The silence is broken only by squeals, guffaws and laughter.
Chuck draws us into his stories of growing up in the nearby town of Hillburn and the surrounding Ramapo Mountains, where we meet the Cramshaw brothers, Uncle Mal, trappers, hunters and mountain people. We learn about the geography and natural history of the areas where the stories take place. You may even be regaled by your camper during your Friday evening dinner with excerpts and sometimes every little factoid from the stories she or he has heard that morning from Chuck.
