Anti-Bias and Anti-Racism Pledge

We are committed to creating an environment where all campers and staff know they are valued and are encouraged to be their true selves without fear of being discriminated against, excluded, or misunderstood based on their race, ethnic background, ability, sex, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, social class or background.

We acknowledge that bias and racism can be conscious or unconscious, intentional or unintentional, and therefore we pledge to turn an eye of introspection and scrutiny toward our individual and organizational practices, traditions, and systems, and to hold one another accountable for the areas and incidents where we fail to live up to our ideals. Wherever we identify these shortcomings, or where they are brought to our attention, we pledge to discuss, challenge and rectify them and the impact(s) they have on our campers and staff.

We pledge to continue to undertake, with our campers, our staff, and ourselves, the deep work of combating racism, implicit bias, and bullying, and of joyfully cultivating self-expression, inclusion, and empathy. We recognize the importance of this work as we endeavor to help guide children in their formative years, and we hope to partner with you on this anti-bias and anti-racism mission.

Finally, we are committed to creating a camp community in which our campers of all backgrounds, races, and abilities, can see themselves reflected in our staff, and have role models that they can truly identify with.
