Sondra Grewe deGraft-Johnson

Sondra began working at The Nature Place as a counselor in 2003. From her very first moments at camp, she was taken with everyone’s genuine kindness and extreme passion for everything outdoors. During her years as a counselor, she enjoyed working with both the youngest and oldest campers. She has been working on our administrative and leadership teams for a number of years.

During the year, Sondra is a middle school English teacher. All year long she looks for ways to infuse a bit more magic, empathy, and creativity into the lives of the children she serves. She is also constantly thinking of ways to live more sustainably and inspire those around her to do the same.

Sondra has a BA in Literature from Ramapo College and an MA in English Education from NYU.

Some of Sondra’s personal interests include reading, rock climbing, hiking, lounging on the beach, and observing the flora and fauna in her home state of New Jersey.
