Clara and Emily are siblings who have attended The Nature Place for multiple years. They share their experience at Camp from summer of 2023!
What are your favorite Nature Place activities?
- Emily: Mucking, swimming, cooking, and everything else. It’s hard to choose.
- Clara: Cooking, Drama, and Swimming
Who was your favorite staff member, and why?
- Clara: Drama Janet, because she is kind and open to different ideas for skits.
What was the most unusual thing you found in the fairy stream while mucking?
- Emily: A backpack and a plank of wood.
What/who was your favorite morning share character?
- Emily: Soapy Steve. He’s so SOAP!-y.
- Clara: Soapy Steve
How many summers have you spent at The Nature Place?
- Emily: 3, going on 4
- Clara: 3
What was your first memory of The Nature Place?
- Emily: Talking to my future best friends about animals
What was your favorite camp song?
- Clara: All I really need is a song in my heart
What was your favorite memory from this summer?
- Emily: Mucking and finding a frog
- Clara: My Almost Overnight and tie-dying t-shirts
What advice would you share with a new camper starting at The Nature Place this summer?
- Emily: Be yourself. Everyone is so nice, and over the years I’ve made so many friends they make up 90% of my group.
Who are you looking forward to seeing next summer?
- Emily: All my friends, the counselors, and the trolls
- Clara: My friends and Drama Janet
What skill or knowledge did you learn this summer?
- Clara: Tying knots
What was your favorite part of your Overnight/Almost Overnight?
- Emily: I loved sitting around the campfire and singing songs.
- Clara: Learning how to set up tents
What is your favorite spot at The Nature Place?
- Emily: The fairy stream.
- Clara: The pond and enchanted forest
This or that, Swimming in the Pond or Mucking in the Fairy Stream?
- Clara: Swimming in the pond
Would you like to work as a staff when you are older? Counselor, Pond, or activity leader, and why?
- Emily: Activity leader, as I really would like to do gardening if Diane has room for help 🙂
What is the first thing you do after you wake up to get ready to go to camp?
- Emily: I walk to the bus while chattering excitedly.
This or that, garden addition: chickens or bunnies?
- Clara: Bunnies
What is the first thing you do when you get home after a camp day?
- Emily: Put away all the sticks and things I collected.
- Clara: Eat a snack
Where do you think the trolls go during the winter?
- Emily: I think they hibernate somewhere warm.
- Clara: I think they have dens in the enchanted forest and nature’s playground
What is your favorite camp tradition? (Trolls, Morning share, Friday share, Cookie tree, etc.)
- Emily: The cookie tree. It is really fun to sing to it and then, of course, eat cookies!
- Clara: Cookie tree and morning share skits
What was your favorite dish at Cooking?
- Emily: I really liked the pasta, rye bread, ice cream, and cowboy caviar.
- Clara: lemon and thyme ice cream, cowboy caviar, and pasta
What was your favorite Art project?
- Emily: I loved weaving.
- Clara: tie-dying shirts
What activity do you want to get more into at camp next summer?
- Emily: Art
- Clara: outdoor skills
What was one thing you liked about your counselor/s this summer?
- Emily: They were all so nice and enthusiastic.
